Madonna's Classic Jaguar Mark X 4.2 Going Under the Hammer at No Reserve

In the 1960s, Jaguar targeted heads of state, diplomats, and VIPs with a fresh model dubbed the Mark X (Ten). The model featured several innovations and was less than half the price of the rivaling Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, and this copy attracted the Queen of Pop herself.
Mind you, it wasn't Madonna's daily, though she was photographed in it on a few occasions. The world-famous singer purchased it for her son, Rocco Ritchie, who has used it for the past few years primarily in and around London, UK. Fast-forward to the present day, and the car is going under the gavel at an upcoming event.

As specified in the title, it is the 4.2L version of the Jaguar Mark X, featuring a larger displacement six-cylinder than the original copies, which packed a 3.8L unit. It is estimated that a little over 5,000 copies saw the light of day in total featuring this motor, and it's unknown how many of them have withstood the test of time.

However, the one Madonna purchased did, and it is presented in a good overall condition. The vehicle in question was subjected to recent work, during which it received a respray in Opalescent Maroon. The exterior features the typical chrome elements and original wheels, bumpers, side mirrors, emblems, and so on.

Opening the door reveals the cockpit's timeless design, with white leather upholstery wrapped around the seats, door cards, center console, etc. It features multiple analog gauges and the original steering wheel. For a touch of modernity, this 1967 Jaguar Mark X 4.2 has received an infotainment system integrated into the console right below the dashboard panel.

According to the vendor, the car is supplied with the original green log book and service plan document issued by the original dealer, University Motors Ltd. Given its rarity and direct ties to Madonna, it will probably sell for a small fortune, though H&H will offer it at no reserve at the Imperial War Museum auction in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, on October 9, 2024.

"Putting aside its famous celebrity connection, this Big Cat is a rare 4.2-liter example that was only in production for two years, and I'm sure Rocco would have enjoyed driving it," commented H&H Classics' motor car specialist Lucas Gomersall. "Our auction offers the chance to own an important piece of British motoring history that has also been bought by one of the most famous people on the planet. It's a car that will always remain in vogue."
