1969 Dodge Charger Gets Digital Widebody Restomod Procedure and Surprise Engine Swap

The 2025 Ford Mustang (S650) has an easy task – to keep hold of the two-door sports car throne in America while the rest of its enemies struggle to survive. Its only potential rival doesn't come from the Mopar side but rather GM's stable.
The seventh-generation 'Stang is among the last of the Mohicans as far as two-door passenger cars are considered – at least across the US automotive market. There are a few BMWs (2 Series and 4 Series plus 8 Series) that threaten its supremacy, but few of them sell with V8s under the hood, and none for the same asking price of 2025 Mustang GT or Dark Horse.

In fact, the closest American foe that's still in production is a different kind of animal – the C8 Chevrolet Corvette had its best sales performance since 2015 during H1 of 2024. That's mostly because people are slowly letting the sixth-gen Camaro and the L-bodied Dodge Charger and Challenger fade away toward car Valhalla after production was stopped by GM and Stellantis late last year. Dodge has a replacement on the way – but it's getting late, and the eighth generation Charger Daytona (EV) and Sixpack (inline-six turbo) coupe and sedan models are nowhere near dealerships.

As such, what could a Mopar enthusiast do in the meantime? Well, the parallel universes of vehicular CGI allow for some daydreaming with help from the imaginative realm of digital car content creators – if you're after a classic Dodge Charger that looks like it was just taken out of a shiny jewelry box, that is. More precisely, Fatih Mehmet Yelkenci, a Turkish virtual designer using the yelkencidesign moniker on social media, has again imagined an eccentric CGI vehicle, a 1969 Dodge Charger, on this occasion.

His previous design projects are mostly European in nature, but recently, he started toying with American ideas, too. For example, last summer, he imagined a speedboat based on the classic Corvette design from the 1960s, then put a cambered Ford Mustang on a supercharged Ferrari diet, and last month thought of a redesigned 1969 Ford Mustang with off-road mods for his sketchbook.

However, for very good reasons, the 1969 Dodge Charger dubbed Crystal is a different kind of restomod. Not because it features custom-designed widebody attire, due to its bagged appearance, or the beautiful modifications like the reworked LED taillights and fancy Govad Forged Wheels shod in Yokohama Advan rubber, or even the stunning chrome lateral exhausts. Nope, the main gist of this virtual transformation is that we're also dealing with a crazy engine swap.

So, instead of the usual supercharged Hemi V8, under the digital hood now resides a crimson and chrome Ferrari V12 mill! What do you think – is it a digital yay or nay?
